MOVING DAY, as well as the days leading up to it, are looming with what seems like a million things that need to be done. But don't forget you're in this together as a family! There are moving activities for children that will make the day easier for everyone. For starters, distribute these kids' job badges. Assigning children specific roles and responsibilities increases their sense of being valued members of the moving team, and enables you to fly through many of the "to do's" on your list.
Once everyone has a designated title (or more than one!), a corresponding job badge to wear and moving activities to do, you just might be surprised at how smooth your move can be

You can make a game of helping your kids get to know their new neighborhood and community around the new house or new apartment. Print out this Bingo-board moving scavenger hunt to enjoy with your children. It's easy to take along on short walks or when driving around. Remember to bring a pencil or non-toxic marker with you.
Feel free to bend the rules on a traditional scavenger hunt. You don't have to make all 16 discoveries in the same day. Spread out the fun, especially for your youngest ones.
When you've completed this moving scavenger hunt, challenge your family detectives to create their own Bingo-board scavenger hunts. They fill in the boxes with clues to their own discoveries about your new house or new apartment, backyard or city block.
